I travel, paint, photograph, philosophize and sometimes its just plain rambling. I also sell my watercolors and oil paintings, both originals and prints. The philosophy is free. Good Morning Dec 20, 2021-A Cold Morning with lots of Birdies
Brrrrr. Good morning. It was cold again at 31f just after sunrise. No clouds then so no color at all, but the bird baths were frozen again. Lots of hummingbirds, lesser goldfinches, house finches, and house sparrows. I also saw a junco and a white crowned sparrow. These two female hummingbirds were sharing a feeder. Very tiny so I think they are Costas hummingbirds. Just now I saw the sharp-shinned hawk in the mulberry tree then swoop down to the olive tree, so all the little birds have scattered again. Mr Sharpie will wait patiently among the olive branches to see if the other birds eventually forget that he’s there. He was there several times throughout the day yesterday as well. The price of having bird feeders is to lose the occasional smaller bird to a raptor now and then. I ran out of clear tape for wrapping presents. Anyone else do that? I always forget to buy more ahead of Christmas, then run out at the crucial time. And I thought I was going to avoid any and all stores this week. There are clouds moving in now, and we’re supposed to have clouds for a few days. Tomorrow is the shortest daylight day of the year, the winter solstice. Perhaps we’ll get some sunrise color then. 5 days till Christmas.
Happy Monday! - Michele
